ARB is the United Kingdom’s statutory regulator of architects, established by the Architects Act 1997. Under that Act, we are responsible for keeping the Register of Architects, which is the only statutory register of architects in the UK. The Register is divided into two parts.

Part 1 is for architects whose qualifications are recognised by ARB and who have met the standards we set for entry to the Register. In the vast majority of instances, Part 1 of the Register will be the primary source of reference for anyone who wants to find an architect, or to check whether someone is registered. You can search Part 1 of the Register using the search boxes below.

Part 2 of the Register has been specially created for EEA architects who wish to practise in the UK on an occasional basis. This has been made possible by a piece of European legislation, the Professional Qualifications Directive 2005/36, otherwise known as the Qualifications Directive. This Directive allows architects from other European member states to provide temporary and occasional services in the UK, without becoming permanently established. You can access Part 2 of the Register here.
